True Blue Weekend 2024 Celebrates Legacy, Lifelong Connections
Hundreds of alums, friends, family and members of the Hartwick community gathered Sept. 20- 22 for the annual True Blue celebration, strengthening ties with campus life as memories were revisited and new ones created. Showcasing a mix of traditions and new events, True Blue Weekend 2024 honored the spirit of Hartwick and the individuals who have shaped its rich legacy.
The festivities kicked off Friday night at the Presidential Kickoff Party, where attendees heard from President James H. Mullen, Jr. In his remarks, Mullen reflected, “This place has been a great institution since the day you walked across the stage and graduated from here. It remains a magnificent institution today and will continue to be a great, meaningful and respected college for generations to come.” Following his speech, the night sky lit up with a dazzling fireworks display, marking the start of the weekend’s celebrations.
Students, alums, family and friends enjoyed the Nursing Alumni Induction Ceremony, the Annual Alumni Awards Presentation, the Golden Jubilee Reunion and 50-Year Club Induction Ceremony and Hartwick’s IRS Vita Program Fifth Anniversary celebration. Other highlights of this year’s True Blue celebration also included the unveiling of the Margaret L. Drugovich presidential portrait, the Pine Lake Fall Festival and the Athletics Hall of Fame & Induction Ceremony, in which five new members were inducted.
Daniel Holz ’98 explains why he has returned to Oyaron Hill almost every True Blue weekend since graduating. “Hartwick is special. I made life-long friends and came out of my shell here. It gives me a chance to remember all the personal growth I experienced at Hartwick.”
