The inaugural lecture took place in February 2025. The speaker series brings prominent figures in sport management to campus to engage with students, faculty and the broader community. The series reflects the College’s commitment to fostering academic excellence, providing real-world learning opportunities and strengthening its longstanding tradition of athletics.

Kerry A. Tatlock serves as executive vice president of Global Marketing Partnerships and Media at the National Basketball Association (NBA). She leads business development and management of new and existing marketing partner relationships across the NBA, WNBA, NBA G
League, NBA 2K League, and USA Basketball, working closely with corporate partners and prospects to develop integrated, season-long marketing programs that drive their businesses. Tatlock also leads media sales relationships and media execution across the NBA’s owned-and-operated channels. Tatlock joined the NBA in 2005.
Before stepping into her current role, Tatlock managed the league’s global marketing partner relationships and global infrastructure. She identified efficiencies and best practices across the league’s international offices, always focusing on driving business opportunities for both new and existing partners. During the 2011-12 season, she worked in London and managed marketing partner activities in the region ahead of the 2012 Olympics and the NBA’s annual European preseason tour.
Tatlock’s experience extends beyond the NBA. She was vice president of television and new media at the Women’s United Soccer Association (WUSA), where she served as a senior member of the executive launch team. Before joining WUSA, she worked as director of marketing and development at SFX Sports. There, she managed the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team relationship, leading sales and marketing for the team’s post-Women’s World Cup (1999) and post-Olympic (2000) soccer tours.
Earlier in her career, Tatlock was the manager of international communications at Nickelodeon and served on the international launch team that established Nickelodeon channels outside the United States.
Tatlock earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Vassar College, where she now serves as vice-chair of the board of directors. She also serves on the board of directors of the Girl Scouts of Greater New York.
October 16, 2025 Lecture - Josh Rawitch
Rawitch, who addressed Hartwick graduates at commencement in 2023, is in his fifth year leading the Hall of Fame and his 31st season working in the baseball industry. He oversees the daily operation of the nonprofit, educational institution, which
employs nearly 100 full-time staff members with the mission to preserve history, honor excellence and connect generations.
During his first four years at the Hall of Fame, Rawitch has focused on strategic growth opportunities that help the 86-year-old institution continue to stay relevant with the next generation of fans and visitors. This includes the incorporation of technological advancements, unique events such as the Savannah Bananas game in 2023 and the creation of “The Souls of the Game: Voices of Black Baseball,” an exhibit which opened in 2024 as part of a four-day event that also featured the first-ever Hall of Fame East-West Classic, a sold-out tribute to the Negro Leagues All-Star Game.
The hall’s current major project, “Yakyu | Baseball: The Transpacific Exchange of the Game,” opened in July 2025. It explores the relationship forged by the national pastime of Japan and the United States.
The Hall of Fame welcomes 250,000 visitors annually and the Museum’s collections contain more than 40,000 three-dimensional artifacts and three million documents in addition to 200,000 baseball cards, 250,000 historic images and 14,000 hours of original audio and video recordings.
Rawitch came to Cooperstown following 10 seasons at the Arizona Diamondbacks and 15 seasons at the Los Angeles Dodgers. With the D-backs, Rawitch served as the Senior Vice President of Content and Communications, overseeing numerous departments within the club’s Business Operations.
Fluent in both Spanish and English, he has overseen media relations during trips to Mexico City (2003), China (2008), Taiwan (2010), Sydney, Australia (2014), and Hermosillo, Mexico (2015), in addition to goodwill tours of Japan, New Zealand and the Dominican Republic. In 2009, ‘13 and ‘17, he served as venue press chief for the World Baseball Classic.
He joined the Dodgers in 1995 and spent parts of five seasons in Marketing before moving to Public Relations. He left the organization for two seasons and became one of MLB Advanced Media’s earliest employees, serving as a beat reporter covering the Dodgers (2001) and Giants (2002).
The Los Angeles native attended Indiana University, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Marketing and Management with a minor in Business. He has taught Strategic Sports Communications at both Arizona State University and the University of Southern California.
Rawitch was honored with the 2018 Robert O. Fishel Award which goes to the “active, non-uniformed representative of MLB whose ethics, character, dedication, service, professionalism and humanitarianism best represent the standards” of the longtime baseball PR executive for which it is named.
He has previously served as a trustee for the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame and on the board of directors for the Greater Phoenix Chamber, Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, ASU’s Sports Business Advisory Board and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He has helped organize MLB’s Winter Meetings annual auction, which has raised more than $2 million for various charities.
April 6, 2025 Lecture - Amber Steele
Amber Steele is the vice president of global sports partnerships & operations for the Coca-Cola Company. She is the corporate overseer of all
global sponsorships, including FIFA, UEFA, IOC and the Special Olympics. Steele manages the relationships with these rightsholders and leads the event operations for the Coca-Cola host market that is hosting the event.
She has worked for The Coca-Cola Company since 2004 and specializes in sponsorship consultation, event and operations management, sponsorship activation, event/experiential marketing and contract negotiations.
Steele has traveled around the globe and worked in the events and sports marketing world for over 30 years. She has worked on all sides of the business, including an agency, federation, club team, local organizing committee and sponsorship side.
A native of Bloomington, Indiana, Steele holds a bachelor’s degree in business and communications from Indiana University. She resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
Inaugural Lecture - February 28, 2025 - Doug Logan
“The Frisson of Jeopardy: The Anecdotal Career of a Sports and Entertainment Executive, Including His Successes and Failures”
In this engaging talk, Logan provided a behind-the-scenes look at his remarkable career, offering an insider’s perspective on sports as both a business and a cultural touchstone. His presentation reflected on his successes and challenges in leading two major sports organizations and his diverse experiences in the entertainment industry.
Logan’s career spans over four decades and he is best known for his pioneering role as the founding Commissioner of Major League Soccer (MLS), where he launched the league in 1996 with 10 teams. He also served as CEO of USA Track & Field, leading the team to the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Throughout his career, he has consulted with sports organizations around the world, helping shape the future of the industry.
A bilingual Cuban-American, Logan’s expertise extends beyond sports management. As an entertainment executive, he has built and managed venues in five countries and worked with legendary artists such as The Rolling Stones, Madonna, U2 and Michael Jackson. He is listed in ‘Who’s Who in Entertainment’ for his contributions to the field.
A combat veteran of the Vietnam War, Logan earned two Bronze Stars with Valor as a member of the 101st Airborne Division. He later taught sports management at New York University, inspiring the next generation of leaders in the field.

With a growing sport management program and a rich legacy of athletic success, Hartwick could not have a more fitting namesake. Over a 40-year career, Meredith has played a pivotal role in shaping some of the world’s most prestigious sporting events, including the Pan American Games, the Olympic Games and multiple FIFA World Cups. As one of North America’s foremost soccer event professionals, he has been instrumental in the growth of U.S. Soccer and the advancement of women’s professional soccer.
Beyond his professional achievements, Meredith remains deeply committed to Hartwick. Through his steadfast advocacy and active engagement with the Hartwick College Alumni Association, he perpetuates a legacy of connectivity and camaraderie. His guidance has also helped shape Hartwick’s sport management program, ensuring students gain the knowledge, experience and connections needed to thrive in the industry.
By establishing this speaker series, Hartwick not only celebrates Thom Meredith’s remarkable career but also reinforces its commitment to preparing students for success in the ever-evolving world of sport management.
