Prevention Education for Students

Going off to college can be intimidating and exciting! At Hartwick we have implemented a comprehensive educational program, which includes alcohol awareness education, sexual assault prevention, and hazing prevention. These programs are designed to help you make the safest, healthiest decisions possible as you begin and continue your college journey.

New Students – Fall Term 2025

As a Hartwick College student, you will grow and change in amazing ways—academically, socially, and personally. We know that the culture at Hartwick and the people you meet here will have a powerful impact on your learning and development. That’s why we’ve implemented a comprehensive educational program to help you make the safest and healthiest decisions possible during your college journey.

These online courses are an important part of your onboarding process at Hartwick and will provide you with valuable knowledge to help make your college transition smoother. Here at Hartwick, everyone is expected to do their part and contribute to the well-being of our community. We want all of our students to be on the same page—with equal access to key information and a shared understanding of what it means to live and learn together at Hartwick.

RETURNING STUDENTS

All new Hartwick students are required to complete Parts 1 and 2 of both the AlcoholEdu® for College and Sexual Assault Prevention online modules.

We’ve partnered with Vector Solutions to offer these evidence-based programs. On or around July 21, 2025, incoming students will receive an email at their Hartwick email address with important login instructions and account access details.

HAZING PREVENTION

Every student athlete and fraternity & sorority life (FSL) member is required to participate in “Hazing Awareness and Prevention for Students” Invitations and instructions for participation in this training module are sent to your Hartwick email account.

STEPS TO ACCESS TRAINING COURSES

Deadlines

  • Part 1 of both courses must be completed by August 15, 2025, with a score of 75% or higher on AlcoholEdu®.
  • To ensure a smooth residence hall check-in and receive your room keys promptly on Arrival Day, it is essential that these requirements are completed by the deadline.
  • Part 2 of both courses will become available approximately 30 days after you complete Part 1. You’ll receive an email reminder, and Part 2 will be due on October 16, 2025.

We’re excited to welcome you to Hartwick and support your success from day one. These courses are just one of the many ways we’re working together to build a safe, inclusive, and healthy campus community.

Students will receive an email invitation from Hartwick College with login information and directions to access the AlcoholEdu® for College, Hazing Prevention, and Sexual Assault Prevention courses. Email invitations are sent to the student’s Hartwick email account.

The email invitation will contain a link for students to access their courses. Students will use their Hartwick email address to log into the learning platform. Once in the platform, students will receive prompts and instructions on how to access their courses and view coursework status.

Once logged-in, students will have access to their Dashboard where they will access the each training course.

These are online, evidence-based learning modules designed to empower students with knowledge around responsible decision-making, alcohol use, healthy relationships, and consent. They are an essential part of preparing for the college experience and align with Hartwick’s commitment to student health and safety.

All incoming first-year and transfer students are required to complete both the AlcoholEdu® and Sexual Assault Prevention courses, regardless of housing status or prior knowledge.

You will receive your course access information on or around July 21, 2025 via your Hartwick email account. This email will come from Vector Solutions, our education partner.

Part 1 of both courses is due by August 15, 2025.

Part 2 becomes available approximately 30 days after you complete Part 1 and is due by October 16, 2025.

If you do not complete Part 1 by the August 15 deadline:

Your residence hall check-in may be delayed;

You will not receive your room key until the courses are completed;

A registration hold may be placed on your student account.

You must earn at least a 75% on the AlcoholEdu® module. The Sexual Assault Prevention course requires full completion, but no minimum score.

Use an up-to-date major web browser such as Chrome, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge.

Make sure you have internet access and audio capabilities.

Close all other tabs and programs for the best experience.

Yes! All survey responses and personal answers within the modules are strictly confidential and will not be shared with Hartwick or any outside party.

All new Hartwick students must complete these specific versions of the modules through Vector, even if you’ve taken similar trainings previously at another institution.

We know you care deeply about your student’s success and well-being. These required courses are one way Hartwick prepares students to thrive in college by equipping them with the knowledge and skills to make healthy decisions and contribute to a safe, inclusive campus environment.

While these modules are completed independently, we encourage families to talk with students about what they’re learning. These conversations can reinforce positive habits and expectations as they navigate this new chapter in their lives.
