Health Initiatives

The Hartwick College Office of Health Promotion programs help students in the life-long development of a healthy lifestyle.

We provide opportunities for personal growth and development by engaging and connecting the entire Hartwick community.

Topics covered over the course of an academic year include alcohol and other drug education, relationships and sexual responsibility, nutrition, sleep, and other health-related topics. These may take a number of forms, from interactive to peer-facilitated discussion.

We conduct campus-wide awareness campaigns for Love Your Body Week, World AIDS Day, Safe Spring Break Week, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Bras Across Campus and others. Our events include informational fairs, community events, free giveaways, Zumbathons, and more.

Health Promotion Student Learning Outcomes

  • To provide effective programming that will help students in the life-long development of a healthy lifestyle.
  • To provide information on a personal and campus-wide level that will enhance the growth and development of the Hartwick community.
  • To prepare the Hartwick community to be well informed about issues that will assist them in making responsible decisions related to personal life choices.

Our mission, learning outcomes, and program initiatives have been developed in alignment with the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education, the American College Health Association, and other prominent resources.
