What I Do Now: I design and lead large-scale technology solutions for the Department of Homeland Security, particularly ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations. My work focuses on advanced data integration, operational dashboards and real-time situational awareness systems that support national security and law enforcement missions.
How the Hartwick Experience Impacted My Professional Life: Hartwick gave me the foundation to think critically, communicate effectively and adapt quickly to complex challenges. The close mentorship from professors and the opportunities to engage in leadership roles prepared me to navigate both the public sector and entrepreneurial ventures.
Challenges in the Field: Government technology and policy move at very different speeds. One of the biggest challenges is balancing urgent operational needs with long procurement cycles and legacy systems. In my role, I often have to align innovative technical solutions with strict compliance and budget realities.
My Favorite Aspect of My Career: I love working at the intersection of technology, public service and strategy. Every day brings the chance to solve problems that have a real-world impact—whether that’s supporting law enforcement missions, helping agencies modernize, or shaping new ways of thinking about data and decision-making. I also enjoy the entrepreneurial side of my work, creating new tools and driving innovations that bring fresh perspectives into traditional spaces.
My Advice for Current Students: Say yes to opportunities (even the unexpected ones). Build strong relationships with mentors and peers, because they will open doors later in your career. Don’t be afraid to fail forward! Some of my best lessons came from ideas that didn’t work the first time. Most importantly, learn to tell your story. Own it and be proud of your journey thus far. Whether you’re in a job interview, pitching a new idea or leading a team, your ability to communicate with clarity and passion will set you apart.
