Why Hartwick?

You see yourself as a diplomat, helping create positive relationships around the world. You want to strengthen business relationships, launch new products, or better understand the role of law in other countries. Hartwick’s international relations minor will help you do all of this – and so much more.

Many Career Paths

Diplomacy and an understanding of world politics are beneficial for any career. At Hartwick, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of how international relationships shape our world.

Report on world politics for news organizations. Strategize new ways to deliver your products in a global marketplace. Gather intelligence for the CIA or deliver humanitarian aid for people in need during times of crisis.

EXTRAORDINARY OPPORTUNITIES

Immerse yourself in your studies with J Term opportunities across Europe, Asia and Africa, where you’ll be a primary witness to how international relations affect those who live them every day. You could even receive an Emerson Scholarship to intern abroad!

On campus, take on a role in Student Government (SGA) and Model UN or be part of the Institute for Public Service. They’re all great ways to discover opportunities to hone your skills, engage with campus, local and state politics, and learn from guest speakers who are active in your career interests.

AN EDUCATION BUILT FOR YOU

From your first semester, you’ll lay the foundations for your studies with courses in concepts and political systems, analyzing international economies, cooperation and conflicts.

As you deepen your studies, you’ll delve into areas that interest you, from the politics of Russia and Central Asia to human rights, water and environmental rights, peacekeeping and global justice.

In your senior year, you’ll work with your faculty mentor to develop a research project you can show at Student Showcase – or an academic conference.
