Freeman Foundation Grants

Freeman Foundation International Internship grants provide students a unique opportunity to pursue their career interests in an international setting.

Through an annual Asia International Internship Program, supported by a grant from the Freeman Foundation, the Center for Global Education is accepting applications for scholarships to fund a 6 to 8 week academic internship in two locations: Busan, South Korea and Kyoto, Japan. These scholarships cover the cost of internship placement, professional development support, travel, and housing in South Korea and Japan.

May-July 2025

Kyoto, Japan

Architecture of Kyoto, Japan

Kyoto, currently a thriving modern commercial center, was once the capital of Japan, is a city on the island of Honshu. It’s famous for its numerous classical Buddhist temples, as well as gardens, imperial palaces, Shinto shrines and traditional wooden houses. Full of historic traditions and modern charm, Kyoto is an ideal location to take advantage of internship opportunities across a variety of fields.

Busan, South Korea

Busan, South Korea

Busan, a large cosmopolitan port city in South Korea, is known for its beaches, mountains and temples. Busy Haeundae Beach features the Sea Life Aquarium, plus a Folk Square with traditional games such as tug-of-war, while Gwangalli Beach has many bars and views of modern Diamond Bridge. Busan offers a unique opportunity for Hartwick students to leverage internship placements that align with their field of study in a culturally diverse coastal city.
