Biama Charles
Deputy DEIB Officer & Founding Director of the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (DIB)
Biama Charles is the Deputy DEIB Officer and Founding Director of the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (DIB). She has worked at Hartwick College since November 2016, first serving as the Associate Director for Residential Life and Housing before establishing the Office of DIB in September 2020. Her primary role is to administer events, trainings, and workshops that celebrate diversity in all of its forms to foster a sense of belonging for Hartwick community members. She also serves as Hartwick’s DEIB liaison with local businesses and organizations in the Oneonta community. Biama earned a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from Stony Brook University and a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Spanish & Secondary Education from State University of New York at Old Westbury.
