Teaching Assistant in Mathematics

Students with strong background in mathematics and who have been recommended by faculty have the opportunity to gain valuable teaching skills by serving as mathematics tutors for lower level mathematics courses.

You can share mathematics learning experience with other students.  You will also learn while you are helping!

Kappa Mu Epsilon

Upon completion of some mathematics courses, you may be invited to join the New York Nu chapter of the National Mathematics Honorary Society, Kappa Mu Epsilon (established 1931). The requirements for membership in Kappa Mu Epsilon are as follows:

  • completion of at least three units of Mathematics (excluding Statistics and Pre-calculus)
  • a 3.0 minimum GPA in all classes
  • a minimum GPA in Mathematics classes (Calculus, Linear Algebra, and 300-level or higher)
    • 3.50 in 3 classes
    • 3.25 in 4 classes
    • 3.00 in 5 or more classes

Members are allowed to wear honor cords in the Kappa Mu Epsilon colors at Commencement.
