J Term Scholarship for New Students
This exciting new scholarship from Hartwick’s Center for Global Education provides access for incoming students to experience a global J Term course.
To apply for the scholarship, first submit your tuition deposit and then submit a video no longer than 5 minutes to Hartwick Admissions at admissions@hartwick.edu with the subject line: J Term Scholarship Entry.
In your video, address the following:
- Full name and hometown and intended major at Hartwick
- Why you chose to enroll at Hartwick
- Why you are interested in doing a global J Term course during your studies
- Why you are deserving of this scholarship
- Share the overseas location of your ideal destination and why
Be creative and have fun—no stress!
The deadline to submit for the scholarship is June 15, 2024.
Eight students will be selected as recipients no later than July 1, 2024.
Terms
- The scholarship is good for a one time overseas J Term course not to exceed $5,000.
- The scholarship must be used after successful completion of the first two semesters having met satisfactory academic progress and can be used in the second or third year of study.
- The student must remain enrolled full-time at Hartwick College for all terms prior to the J Term course (12 or more credits), and stay enrolled in the semester following the course or may forfeit the award.
- The student must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) as defined in the College’s course bulletin.
- The student must be free of any conduct infractions while a student at Hartwick.
- If the cost of the course is less than $5,000 the student will not be paid the difference of the course and the scholarship.
- Any costs above the $5,000 scholarship will be incurred by the student.
- The scholarship is non-transferable.
- Student must agree that the video submission may be used for promotional purposes at Hartwick.

Possible Destinations and Courses
In your second or third year of study, your scholarship would offer you destinations and courses like those being offered in 2025. These faculty-led programs will allow our students to explore Africa, Asia, The Caribbean, and Europe.
