Occupational Health and Safety HAZWOPER Certificate
The HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) Certificate prepares workers to safely enter and work on a wide range of contaminated sites.
40-Hour Hazwoper Training
The 40-hour certificate course satisfies the off-site training requirements for the general site worker outlined in the OSHA HAZWOPER Standard [29 CFR 1910.120(e)].
Certificate awarded: HAZWOPER CEU: 4.0
Prerequisites: None
Cost: $485.00, includes training materials and lunch.
Instruction: On-campus, Johnstone Science Center, Room #301; Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

HAZWOPER 8-Hour Refresher
OSHA’s Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) standard (29 CFR 1910.120) requires eight (8) hours of annual refresher training for waste site cleanup workers, as well as for workers at hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal facilities.
Hartwick College provides annual HAZWOPER refresher training to meet requirements.
At this interactive course you will learn:
- How to assess the risks of chemical releases
- Implementation of personal protective equipment program
- Effective environmental monitoring with direct reading instruments
- Spill response procedures
- Decontamination, etc.
Certificate awarded: HAZWOPER Refresher CEU: 0.8
Prerequisites: OSHA HAZWOPER Standard [29 CFR 1910.120(e)] Certification

About Our Instructor
Osamede Evbuomwan MS, CSP, CHMM, CPEA, is an OSHA authorized trainer. A working professional, Osamede serves as Hartwick College’s Occupational Health & Safety Manager and chemical hygiene officer. He is also an adjunct faculty member in the departments of chemistry, public health, and environment, sustainability & society. Osamede is also the coordinator of the Hartwick College undergraduate internship program in occupational environmental health & safety.
