News Hartwick College Announces New Sports Management Minor
“Students are excited about this new minor,” said Associate Professor Pauline Stamp, co-chair of the Business Administration and Accounting Departments and chair of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Division.
“It builds on our legacy of student-athletes, who will join the ranks of Hartwick alumni already working in the industry.”
Beginning this fall, the sports management minor will offer courses in team and athlete management, marketing, analytics and budgeting, and event planning. Courses will be taught by Hartwick’s business faculty, athletic staff members, as well as working industry professionals.
“This is an incredible step by Hartwick, building on its powerful athletics legacy by offering the academic and practical foundation necessary to be successful in the sports management industry,” said Paul Danforth ’93, President at CAA Sports. “As a sports and entertainment executive, I’m confident the knowledge and skills acquired through this program will be invaluable and give Hartwick students a competitive advantage in what is a dynamic and growing sector.”
In addition to their coursework, students will complete an internship with local, regional and national organizations, and a senior thesis project.
