At Perrella Health Center, our mission is to promote and maintain the conditions that encourage Hartwick students to realize their optimum physical, emotional, intellectual, and social well-being.

To achieve this goal we practice preventative healthcare and assist students in becoming educated consumers of healthcare.

The Counseling Center is also housed in the Perrella Health Center. Together we strive to meet the wellness needs of the Hartwick community.

Hours of Services:
Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed weekends)

Doctor on staff Tuesdays from 12:15 – 2 p.m. to see students by appointments.

Nurse Practitioner on staff Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment.

We encourage appointments but will accommodate walk-ins needing urgent care. Scheduling an appointment reduces your waiting time and enables us to see patients more efficiently.

  • General healthcare for illness/injury
  • Women’s health/gynecological exams/emergency contraception
  • Evaluation, testing, and treatments of STIs
  • HIV/AIDS information, counseling, and testing
  • Allergy injections
  • Immunization programs to comply with Public Health Law 2167 and annual flu vaccine clinic
  • Health education materials

Confidentiality: All contact with Perrella Health Center services is strictly confidential. Medical information can be released only with the student’s written permission.

Insurance: All full-time students are required to have health insurance. If a student does not have health insurance they will be required to purchase the College insurance plan. For more information, contact Student Accounts at 607-431-4306 or visit the Student Accounts webpage.

For diagnostic testing performed off-campus, medications prescribed by Perrella Health Center and referrals to off-campus medical providers:

  • College insurance: Cost is billed to College insurance plan for payment
  • Parent Insurance: Costs for diagnostic testing are billed to parent insurance plan.
  • Medication costs are charged to student’s College account unless they elect to fill prescription off-campus.

Parents: if you plan to cover your student on your insurance plan, it is extremely important that you confirm that your student has coverage while away at College. Students should have their own insurance/prescription card to carry with them at all times.

There is no fee to see a healthcare provider or counselor. (Note: a nominal fee is charged to the student’s account for certain in-house laboratory tests and procedures.)

Non-emergent medical transport on and off campus is provided by student health squad. Call 607-431-4120 Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Campus Safety provides transport after hours and on weekends.

  • Fox Hospital Emergency Department (607-431-5000)
  • FoxNow walk-In Clinic (607-431-5052)
  • Bassett Convenient Care (607-433-6400).
