Business Administration Requirements

Business Administration Major Requirements for Students Enrolling as of Fall 2018

Quantitative Business Track

Students with interest and facility in the area of analytics have the opportunity to pursue a quantitative B.S. Business Administration track that includes coursework in quantitative business methods and information systems and culminates in a thesis project, ideally linked to a community partner or an entrepreneurial venture. Students exploring career options in operations research, business systems, and finance among other fields, are likely to pursue this track.

  • ECON 101 Principles of Microeconomics AND (3 credits)
  • ECON 102 Principles of Macroeconomics (3 credits)
  • BUSA 230 Organizational Behavior (3 credits)
  • BUSA 240 Marketing (3 credits)
  • BUSA 260 Quantititive Business (3 credits)
  • BUSA 270 Information Systems (3 credits)
  • BUSA 280 Finance (4 credits)
  • BUSA 490 Senior Thesis (3 credits)

Additional Requirements for the Quantitative Business Track:  

In addition to the above, students will select one course from the Critical Communication Cognate list and one course from the Law and Ethics Cognate list (see below) as well as three Business elective courses at the 300- or 400- level. An approved BUSA internship of 3 credits or more (BUSA 395 or 495) may count as one of the three electives. A total of one 300- or 400-level course in ACCO, FINA, or ECON may also count as one of the three elective courses. At least two of the three electives must be in BUSA.


Integrative Business Track

For students interested in pursuing careers in the more qualitative aspects of business, including but not limited to marketing, advertising, sales, international business, and human resource management, we propose the integrative track that has them combine the business core with a minor or major in another discipline consistent with their professional goals and personal passions.
