Student Showcase

Each May students can present any work that they have worked on in the past year. More than 100 Hartwick students showcase their work in presentations, sessions, and displays throughout the day. Scholarship winners (Freedman, Emerson, and Duffy) are highlighted during the Showcase, and other awards announced during Honors Convocation are also highlighted.

KENNEDY CENTER AMERICAN COLLEGE THEATER FESTIVAL (KCACTF)

Each January students have the opportunity to present their work at the regional theater portion of national KCACTF. The conference brings together college students from all over the Northeast to present theatre work and receive outside assessment from KCACTF respondents, who are professionals in their field. Students also have the opportunity to attend workshops led by theatre professionals while they attend the conference.

Past Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Winners:

  • Chase O’Neill ‘16 for I Wanna Be Famous: National Semi-Finalist / Region 1 Playwriting Winner
  • Nathan Skethway ’16 for poster design
  • Danielle Weaver ’15 for The Caucasian Chalk Circle: National Finalist / Region 1 Design Winner
  • Kelly Fayton ‘13 for The Tempest: National Finalist / Region 1 Design Winner

The Lab Theatre

The Lab Theatre is the ‘home away from home’ to the theatre major/minor. This facility enables students to have a faculty member, technical director, and academic intern within arm’s reach. The lab is an intimate black box theatre perfectly suited for student performances such as senior projects, one-acts, and club productions.

Slade Theatre

Slade Theatre is where our main stage plays are performed. Slade Theatre is centrally located in Yager Hall, providing convenient access for Hartwick and community audiences. Slade has two large make-up rooms downstairs, a catwalk, a large tech booth for lighting and sound, and a box office. Check out the displays in the theatre lobby for information about current and past productions!
